 Gary L. Phelps
Gary was born and raised in the south. He lived in Hickory back in the late 50’s and early 60’s when Lake Norman was being formed. He lived in Ohio for about 19 years and spent about a year in southern California. While in the Navy he served with the 3rd Marine Division, FMF, near Quang Tri, Vietnam and some time on Okinawa.
He has two fantastic children and four terrific grandchildren. His son and his sons’ family live in Hickory, NC and his daughter and her family live in Shelby, OH.
 
The grand kids enjoy playing and fishing on Lake Norman when they come to visit ‘grampa’. His four legged companion ‘Buddy’ loves to travel, chase the grand kids and nap in the warm sunshine.
 Gary has been in real estate sales since 1988 in the Lake Norman and surrounding area. He established Phelco Properties, Inc. in 1990 as a real estate investment company and later opened it as a full service real estate brokerage firm on Williamson Road in Mooresville. For over 15 years he operated Lake Norman Rentals, as part of Phelco Properties, managing long term rental properties for about 200 home owners on and around Lake Norman. While working for another real estate brokerage in 1988, Gary started the first weekly vacation rental program to meet the needs of Lake Norman property owners and vacationing guests from all over the world. That part of Phelco Properties became known today as Lake Norman Vacation Station in 1994. From 1988 to 1994 it was operated under the name of Lake Norman Rentals along with the long term rental business. Sales has always been his main focus and enjoys working as a ‘Buyer’s Agent’ and sharing his knowledge of this fast growing area.
 Phelco Properties’ mission is to assist home buyers and sellers by giving them a broker with many years of experience and knowledge of the Lake Norman area to work exclusively for them (see “Working With Real Estate Agents”).
